Adrian was doing another gig for the Ranger Association by being here today; most would see it as noble service, but truth be told, it was penance for nearly destroying Route 110 months ago. So instead of his usual self-serving agendas, today was to be spent helping others, and not just under a false pretense. So of course he hated it.

Funny how all it took was someone forcing you to do something that you would've liked before to make it suddenly the most insufferable experience. His Eiscue was wondering around with its Ice Face intact, instilling a permeating chill throughout the hotel they were staying at for the next few days.

"This actually blows," he muttered while dragging his finger in circles against the worn out leather of a lounge chair. Although he may not have liked it, at least the place had nice digs.

"Hey, don't go breakin' anything," he'd warn under his breath as the lumbering pokemon's head teetered dangerously towards delicate furniture.

Meanwhile, outside by the pool, a shirtless prince laid upon a beach chair sipping a mango margarita. The icy drink, paired with the shade from the umbrella just above him, helped cool him off from the summer sun shining above. The possessed teacup that had kept itself perfectly still on the table beside him, in the meantime, waited dutifully for any sort of command. Before long, it got it: "Earl, do you mind fetching me another drink?" The sunglass-wearing royal bid, holding up his empty glass for the Ghost-type to take.[break][break]

With little hesitation, the teacup suddenly came to life and grabbed the empty glass delicately with a ghostly hand. It happily hummed as it carried it off towards the bar inside the hotel lobby. Unfortunately, an Eiscue skating around nearly bumped into him, causing him to drop the glass but grab it back just in the nick of time— umbrella and all. Afterwards, the Sinistea berated the Eiscue with a string of noises as it waved the glass about.[break][break]

After a near miss with some sort of rogue teacup, Eiscue teetered to one side, throwing up its head in befuddlement as it watched a floating teacup carrying itself around the hotel. In its distraction it leaned its head too far back, plummeting to the floor from the weight and disturbing the peace.

When he'd heard a thud, Adrian about prepared to tear off Eiscue's ice face with his own two hands; hadn't he told it to be careful? But as the clamor died down he could tell no damage had been done.

Still though, after watching it take a scalding scolding from a floating teacup, Adrian couldn't be mad with it for long and instead left it there so as to keep it from doing any more harm, while Adrian padded his way out the entrance hall and towards a hallway that led outside to their pool area.

There were many guests but whom stood out (or laid out, technically speaking,) was a young adult male hiding from the sun beneath the shade of a parasol, receiving his tea from a sinistea; presumably the same one he'd witnessed inside.

That explains that... Wait, he's...?

As far as Adrian felt they might as well have been drinking from a hermit crab's shell, but what struck him more was a certain recognition. I think I know this guy. But not from here, and not Slateport...

...But not from back home, either.

Adrian committed the atrocious crime of staring at them while he clutched at his chin in silent musing, pondering the reason for his seeming familiarity with this fellow's features. Could it be Rustboro?

It wasn't typical for the experienced and professionally trained butler pokémon to be late. So, eventually, Remiel set down the book he'd been reading and lolled his head sideways to look. The blue-grey eyes that were obscured behind the panel of black sunglasses immediately focused on the somewhat familiar individual staring at him there.[break][break]

It was the man from the club just a week ago.

After a brief and awkward pause, the black-haired royal propped himself up with his elbows on the chair and spoke. "I'm sorry, but do we have business together?"[break][break]

He recognized him, yes. From both the incident at the club and the Valentine's Day event before that. But Remiel had been wearing a disguise during the former. He wasn't sure if, or why, the lad would remember him at all now. [break][break]

As the people who walked by, or sat nearby, started to look at them oddly, Remiel shook his head and unpropped his elbows from the chair as he settled back into laying down. "If you have something to say, you can take the chair beside me and say it. Otherwise I ask that you move along." He stated, briefly gesturing to the open beach chair parallel to his own before lifting his book again to read.[break][break]

Adrian's brows furled with a scoffing expression as he listened to such a curt greeting, if it could even be called that. And it was not often he found himself in this position, being something of a celebrity himself. Chewing down on it, he tried to respond professionally, though his face belied those intentions. "I'm staying here while the HVAC's repaired..." His business wasn't with them, so far as he knew, unless they were going to reveal to him they secretly owned the place or something.

If his stare had been obtrusive before, then now...

"I'm not moving along until that's settled, so," he added in a dissatisfied tone. "You'll just have to live with it, I guess. Or complain to someone, but it's not like I'm bothered."

Adrian wasn't sure why, but this stranger really ground his gears. I mean, where does he get off asking me to leave? It's just so... obnoxious.

"...Whatcha readin'?" Small talk, little more.

There was another quirk brow to be had at the young man's response— and, additionally, the sour expression on his face. Remiel had meant nothing personal by his words, however. He'd spoke his piece rather matter-of-factly and resumed his reading. Regardless, the lad seemed determined to stick around anyway. Perhaps in some sort of silly effort to spite him. Though the black-haired royal had to guess sitting under the umbrella was far cooler than standing out in the open as the sun beat down from above.[break][break]

"Have it your way." He replied, returning his attention to his book and flipping a page just before the lad asked what he was reading. Moving his hand, Remiel held up the cover of the book for him to see:[break][break]

"I guessed that from the title," he offered in response, though his exasperation had finally caught up to him. Perhaps it was the heat, even though he'd only been basking in it for a few short-lived moments. "Why read it at all, then?"

The child in him snapped back without skipping a beat: Clearly he needs help with being just that, a 'superior man', but the irony of being told that by him, the one who denied taking a seat and proving his uncouth nature, wasn't entirely lost on him.

"I can think of a million better ways to spend one's time..." Yet only three came to mind. However, for most that was all that was required.

He eventually takes the seat for what it's worth, though it is like to be an ephemeral gesture. "But then, this must be your idea of fun..."

Swiping at his brows wet with perspiration, Adrian managed to find a level of relative comfort.

The Galarian prince sighed. "It came recommended... then it was given to me as a gift. I wouldn't care to continue if I wasn't certain I would be quizzed on it later." He added, giving the book a skeptical look before guiding it towards the young man instead. "Standing in the hot sun is your definition of a good time?"[break][break]

Just as he said that, of course, the lad took the seat he'd been offered earlier and chose to criticize his own 'idea of fun' after. "This is my idea of relaxation," Remiel replied, looking over his shoulder to see if Earl Grey would be back with his drink soon. "Barring the book, of course." He settles back into his chair after he spots the teacup at the bar. There are some kids on the other side of the pool: a pair of brothers and their sister. One of them looked as he once did.[break][break]

"It's a lot like being under stage lights," he offers as insight for Remiel to understand his tolerance. But truly, there was nothing more exasperating than baking beneath the sun in the sweltering heat. If the air had been drier, he might've appreciated it more, but the air was saturated with moisture. Hoenn was surrounded by ocean waterfronts, Lilycove along the East coast.

"Though I appreciate the weather about as much as you do the book." The book was rejected as swiftly as it had been directed his way. "I'm not much of a reader, the most I check out are the tabloids. And that's just for some kicks."

If he hadn't only just seated himself, Adrian might've wanted to fetch a drink, but as it was he chose to remain reclined. "Quizzed, huh?"

Sounds like some sort of book club...

"I take it you've never heard of Spark Notes?"
